Hello fellow Greatly Reviewed!!! readers,

This time I’d like to share my story. These few days, I’ve played a lot with a free webhosting. It’s called 000webhost. Actually I knew nothing about cPanel (although in fact I translated a cPanel manual for my friends in the university where I’m working. I knew and used cPanel for the first time when I joined the above mentioned site.

Later, I tried to know more and more about it. And today, with that freehosting that provides 250 MB of disk space and 100 GB bandwidth, and promise of never closed down their servers–it’s their own server and they’ve been in paid webhosting business for four years–I finally bought some cheap domains for myself and for my friends.

Well, if you wanna know more about this freewebhosting (NO ADS WHATSOEVER!!!) just come here http://www.000webhost.com/38031.html and buy yourself a domain and register yourself. Okay?

Yeah, I gotta say this to thank them, guys. It’s quite expensive to have our own hosting, and this one is really helpful.

Man, I don’t wanna play a know-all guy tonight. But, I just can’t resist the temptation to share what I’ve got in mind. I’ll tell you my tiny experience preparing a website for my translation agency. They translation chief asked me to make a website for him a month or two ago. I am not a designer myself, and still worse, I’m just a CMS webmaster (hehehe…. okay, Eko, happy now? hahaha…). However, WordPress flashed into my mind at that time, and then I said “Yes, let’s see what I can do.”

Later, I after some peek at the cPanel, I saw that it has fantastico delux. So, following a friend’s direction, I directly installed the WordPress. Oh man, it’s WordPress 2.5, the latest version. Okay then, everythings gonna be better, thus I said to myself.

After selecting business themes, I decided to use a Rockinblue20. Satisfied with the look, I then started making pages, not posts. Everything is easier with WordPress 2.5. Then, after determining my first page as the home, I went into the file called header.php. I cut <li class=”page_item”><a href=”http://transbahasa.net”>Home</a></li> and then I paste it after <?php wp_list_pages(’title_li=&depth=1′); ?>. With this, I can move the link Home to behind other links to pages (or page titles). Since I wanted to use this link as a link to my blogposts, I then replaced the text home with blog and then I modified <a href=”http://transbahasa.net”> into <a href=”http://transbahasa.net/?p=””>. With this, I can have a link to my blogposts.

So, if you wanna see the result of my humble effort, :D, please click here.

I just did another wordpress, oh no, not another, buat several wordpress installation on my free hosting. Two months or three ago, when I first knew the free hosting provider www.000webhost.com, I could only find one site software menu in its cPanel. With this menu, I could install blog, CMS, forum and other engines. However, for blogs, especially, I could only install blogs (there were wordpress and b2evolution) in a special folder other than the root (public_html). HOWEVER (well… if I say ‘however’, there must be something worth reading then), yesterday, when I opened the cPanel again, I found that there’s ‘fantastico delux’ there. Wow, this has to be something cool!

Then, I tried to do some clicks and I found out that I could auto-install wordpress with it! And the good news is, the installation files are in the root. Great! And another great thing is that… it’s Wordpress 2.5. The newest, simplified, effectified wordpress. So, I just tried my luck with this webhosting (which actually has helped me a lot as my remote storage, hehehe). I bought a domain (I still don’t wanna tell you the name, guys. You’ll find it sooner or later). And I hope tomorrow afternoon it will be already active! So here we blog again!

As I said before, I like visiting university websites for various reasons. Some of the reasons are to find what I can use to improve my university’s website, to get information about education in other places, to see student activities, to learn their structures and all.

These past weeks, I’ve visited UTD (University of Texas at Dallas) a lot. Although is university is not among the oldest in America, and of course not one of the Ivy League, this website very complete. You can find almost all things you need to know about the campus. Besides, information, you can also use some webservices for 1) getting admissions, 2) applying for scholarships, 3) registering to courses, 4) applying for university apartments, and all.

If you get an admission, you’ll receive a letter telling you to visit certain “a bit hidden” page where you are guided to take some steps to go before you attend the courses.

Besides, the site is well-updated and …. i believe … you can know a lot about the campus from this website… Well, in this case, a university doesn’t have to be an Ivy Leage member to have a good web presence. UTD is one of the example….

A couple of weeks ago I saw another “hard” movie. The title is “Little Children.” With Kate Winslet and Patrick Wilson playing the female and male main characters, this movie to me shows its potential as a must-watch movie. Kate’s played superbly well in Titanic. And I do believe she won’t ruin her own reputation with playing in B-rate movies. So, I decided to watch as soon as I know the main female character and its category as “drama, romance, tragedy.”

When I watched the movie, I found that it was a “hard” movie in which the director takes us to think to solve what actually happen in the movie or what is there between the lines of the movie. Later, from a movie review in imdb I found that the movie is made from a novel. Well, no wonder if it feels nicely hard. I myself don’t mind watching movies from novels—well, I like reading, and even writing, literary works.

To me, the most unique part of this movie is the use of a narrator that intrudes the scenes and dialogs. It’s just cool to watch a novel like movie. It can balance the hard tone that the movie has from its scenes which sometimes lack dialog. A reviewer in the above-linked site said that this use of narrator gives a tone of children story to the movie. Well, it’s okay to interpret it as so. The unique thing is that I can’t easily forget this movie. I still can play vividly it’s parts in my mind.

All in all, I recommend this movie to you, only if you are above 18. :D
