I just did another wordpress, oh no, not another, buat several wordpress installation on my free hosting. Two months or three ago, when I first knew the free hosting provider www.000webhost.com, I could only find one site software menu in its cPanel. With this menu, I could install blog, CMS, forum and other engines. However, for blogs, especially, I could only install blogs (there were wordpress and b2evolution) in a special folder other than the root (public_html). HOWEVER (well… if I say ‘however’, there must be something worth reading then), yesterday, when I opened the cPanel again, I found that there’s ‘fantastico delux’ there. Wow, this has to be something cool!

Then, I tried to do some clicks and I found out that I could auto-install wordpress with it! And the good news is, the installation files are in the root. Great! And another great thing is that… it’s Wordpress 2.5. The newest, simplified, effectified wordpress. So, I just tried my luck with this webhosting (which actually has helped me a lot as my remote storage, hehehe). I bought a domain (I still don’t wanna tell you the name, guys. You’ll find it sooner or later). And I hope tomorrow afternoon it will be already active! So here we blog again!

As I said before, I like visiting university websites for various reasons. Some of the reasons are to find what I can use to improve my university’s website, to get information about education in other places, to see student activities, to learn their structures and all.

These past weeks, I’ve visited UTD (University of Texas at Dallas) a lot. Although is university is not among the oldest in America, and of course not one of the Ivy League, this website very complete. You can find almost all things you need to know about the campus. Besides, information, you can also use some webservices for 1) getting admissions, 2) applying for scholarships, 3) registering to courses, 4) applying for university apartments, and all.

If you get an admission, you’ll receive a letter telling you to visit certain “a bit hidden” page where you are guided to take some steps to go before you attend the courses.

Besides, the site is well-updated and …. i believe … you can know a lot about the campus from this website… Well, in this case, a university doesn’t have to be an Ivy Leage member to have a good web presence. UTD is one of the example….

I don’t know much about e-commerce. What I know about it is that I can buy things without ever visiting the store, or even touch the things I want to buy. I used to get scared about buying things through e-commerce. However, I realize that e-commerce has made things in life easy to do, such as buying a newly released books (without having to queue in front of the book store—remember Harry Potter case?).

Couple of hours ago I visited Ashop, a website that provides e-commerce software. From this website, I could learn the whole idea of e-commerce. And, as I said before, it turned out that managing an e-store is not difficult at all. I also knew from the site that to manage a shopping cart we don’t have to have our own hosting, design our shopping cart software and all.

Another important fact is that nowadays we don’t have to worry about the security of online transaction because e-commerce software has made some inventions which makes it possible for us to leave the e-store without being afraid that our credit card account number can be seen by other people—there’s the so called check out security.

Well, it’s quite enlightening that this afternoon I visit Ashop. By the way, I think I begin to be interested in e-commerce. Hehehe…

A friend of mine said something to me, “You can get money from blogging!” It was quite a shock to me a couple of months ago. I thought it was a joke. How can someone earn money from blogging? However, he then told me how it is possible to go blogging and earn some money simultaneously. It’s Smorty! Yes. It’s because of Smorty, a pay per review program. It’s the program where you get paid for blogging.
Smorty gives a cool opportunity for us bloggers to earn dollars by writing reviews of some products and posting the review on our blogs. “For each review, you can get some 6-20 dollars,” my friend said. Yeah, he said so.

So, why do you review the products, the websites, or the softwares? Yeah, still according to that friend of mine, it is because by reviewing the product, you also introduce them to your blog readers or subscribers. That way, you help them advertise their products. Well, both parties get the advantages, right? We bloggers get the money, and the producers also get recognition.

By the way, in this site, not only bloggers can come, producers or web owners can come to request for reviews. They can expect to get their products advertised in blogs. Well, these days, I believe that people like to read blogs better than advertisement columns in newspaper, right? So, blog advertising is a good alternative to advertise products. Yeah, once again, I must say that Smorty gives benefits to both sides.

By the way, another friend of mine, who also write reviews, told me that he earn around 200 dollars from his reviews for Smorty IN ONE WEEK. Wow, that’s a lot of money!

Oh my God. There’s a very big thing that I forget to review. What is it? Yes, I can hear you: Wordpress.org

Yeah, I should thank WordPress first off for their effort providing a cool and easy to use CMS that enables people all around the world easily manage their sites without having to master html scripting, java scripting, and any other scripting skills needed to manage a website.

I began my WordPress experience by making a translator’s diary (hey, sorry I can’t give you the hyperlink, I’ve already deleted the blog), and then writing practice blog (I’ve alrealy moved its content to another secret blog of mine, :D), and then my literary community Continue reading »
