A friend of mine said something to me, “You can get money from blogging!” It was quite a shock to me a couple of months ago. I thought it was a joke. How can someone earn money from blogging? However, he then told me how it is possible to go blogging and earn some money simultaneously. It’s Smorty! Yes. It’s because of Smorty, a pay per review program. It’s the program where you get paid for blogging.
Smorty gives a cool opportunity for us bloggers to earn dollars by writing reviews of some products and posting the review on our blogs. “For each review, you can get some 6-20 dollars,” my friend said. Yeah, he said so.

So, why do you review the products, the websites, or the softwares? Yeah, still according to that friend of mine, it is because by reviewing the product, you also introduce them to your blog readers or subscribers. That way, you help them advertise their products. Well, both parties get the advantages, right? We bloggers get the money, and the producers also get recognition.

By the way, in this site, not only bloggers can come, producers or web owners can come to request for reviews. They can expect to get their products advertised in blogs. Well, these days, I believe that people like to read blogs better than advertisement columns in newspaper, right? So, blog advertising is a good alternative to advertise products. Yeah, once again, I must say that Smorty gives benefits to both sides.

By the way, another friend of mine, who also write reviews, told me that he earn around 200 dollars from his reviews for Smorty IN ONE WEEK. Wow, that’s a lot of money!

I just finished reading another Tolstoy. It’s The Raids. This short story is, again, inspired by Tolstoy’s life when he joined his brother in the front with soldiers in the province of Don Cossack, in a war with enemy Tartars.

In my opinion, this story is the most beautiful of Tolstoy’s first works, in terms of language. It is true that the story tells about wartime. Yes. But, telling about war doesn’t necessarily mean that a work is unbeautiful (:D). The Raids is beautiful in terms of its description of the landscape, the chain of snowy mountains, the crimson color of dusk, the violet mist surrounding the snowy mountains also in the dusk, and all. I believe it’s because Tolstoy had just seen such panorama there in the region.

Besides description of nature, I also find that it has a very good description of people. Here Tolstoy describes Captain Khlopov’s facial expression and how the I analyzes the characteristic of the Captain.

However, there’s one thing that, in my opinion, needs improvement, that is, its size. I don’t feel comfortable reading Tolstoy when it is very short. Yeah, Tolstoy is served best when it is long, comprehensive, and effectual!!!!!

One thing about No Country for Old Men that singles this movie out of other action/drama movie is its unpredictability. In other action movies, we can easily find who will find and who will lose and who will potentially die and who will stay alive although badly wounded. Yes. I bet you agree with me about this point.

But here, in No Country, you’ll be amazed to know that it turns out to be the movie that breaks our heart because it does not make our hero the last man standing and laughing. No. Don’t expect to be made relieved with the final conclusion of the story. No.

Again, IF YOU DON’T EXPECT ANY SPOILER, PLEASE STOP READING RIGHT AT THIS POINT! Continue reading »

Yeah, the next character to talk about is Anton Chigur (Javier Bardem). I believe people will say that this is the coolest character in the movie. You’ll find this guy as a top, cold blooded, no-fear-no-pain murder. He would kill only because he wants to. He never needs any reason to kill. When he promises to kill you, well, you can expect that he comes to you and ask you to choose between head and tail, and the coin will decide whether or not you deserve the killing.

Another cool character of his is his being ultra tidy. He’s a clean man in spite of his occasional blood shed during efforts to murder. The amazing thing is that he knows well how to kill, Continue reading »

One thing I do like from this movie is its capability of creating round characters. Compared to other movies in which we can guess who will win from the first 15 minutes of the movie, No Country of Old Men is way much stronger. It just has the so-called round character as my Prose Fiction professor used to say.

By round character I mean the character that we can’t hardly decide whether he/she is good or bad. In the case of No Country for the Old Men, I can see clearly the character roundness from the semi-protagonistic character called Llewelyn (Josh Brolin). At first, we hate Llewelyn because he does not help a dying man who covets water. I firstly said to myself, ‘Oh, this must be the bad guy.’ Continue reading »
